Crowns
A crown covers the whole visible part of a tooth. It is used when a tooth is so damaged – by decay, fracture or after root canal treatment – that a filling or onlay would not hold. A crown can also be placed on an implant to replace a missing tooth.
How a crown is made
- examination and, if needed, an X-ray to check the root and surrounding bone,
- preparing the tooth,
- a digital scan instead of traditional impressions,
- a temporary crown while the final one is made in the laboratory,
- fitting, bite check and cementing.
Before recommending a crown, we check whether a less invasive restoration – such as an onlay or overlay – would be enough, because it preserves more of your own tooth.
Crown on an implant: usually 4500–4800 PLN (up to approx. 6000 PLN for non-standard solutions). Porcelain-fused-to-metal crown – 2500 PLN, zirconia or lithium disilicate crown – 4000 PLN.
