DENTIST IN WILANÓW, WARSAW
Bone grafting
After a tooth is removed, the bone that surrounded it gradually shrinks. After a few years there may not be enough bone to place an implant safely. Bone grafting (augmentation) restores the lost volume.
Who provides treatment? The consultation, treatment plan and prosthetic restoration are provided by Dr Joanna Chodorowska. Surgical procedures are performed by an oral surgeon. Call us – reception will arrange an appointment and explain the next steps: +48 735 967 875.
When is it needed?
- when a tooth was removed long ago and the bone has shrunk,
- after inflammation or injury that destroyed part of the bone,
- when there is enough bone for an implant, but not for one that will look good.
What does treatment involve?
Bone substitute material is placed where bone is missing, often covered with a special membrane. The bone usually takes several months to rebuild before an implant can be placed; sometimes both stages are combined in one procedure. Everything starts with a consultation and a CBCT scan. The price is set after the consultation.
If a tooth needs to come out and you are planning an implant in the future, it is worth thinking about preserving the bone on the day of the extraction.
COMPREHENSIVE TREATMENT
A single treatment is often part of a larger treatment plan. If several teeth are affected, it is best to start with a comprehensive consultation – the result is a plan with stages and costs. Prices for selected treatments are in our price list.
